Who we are

Travels in Turkey is a travel guide published at travelsinturkey.com. This page explains what happens to data when you visit.

What this site collects

This site is a set of static pages. It has no user accounts, no login, no comment system and no contact form, so there is nothing here that asks you for personal information.

If you email us, we hold that email in order to reply to it, and for no other purpose. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the service, which may include IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested. This is standard server logging, handled by Cloudflare under its own privacy terms.

Cookies and local storage

This site sets no advertising cookies of its own. Your browser may store small amounts of data locally to remember interface preferences; that stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Google Analytics (GA4) sets first-party cookies on this domain — typically _ga and _ga_YG0DCNJ2CR — so we can see which pages are read. Those cookies are stored by your browser and sent to Google when the analytics script runs. You can block them with a browser privacy setting or extension.

Cloudflare may set cookies that are strictly necessary for security and performance, such as those used to detect automated traffic.

Affiliate links

Some links to hotels, tours, flights, eSIMs and insurance are affiliate links. If you click one and go on to book, we may receive a small commission from that company.

Two things worth stating plainly:

• It costs you nothing extra. You pay the same price you would have paid going direct.
• It does not buy coverage. Where we suggest going and how long to stay is written independently of what pays.

When you follow one of these links you leave this site, and the destination company's own privacy policy and cookies apply from that point. Those companies typically use cookies to attribute the referral. We do not receive your personal details from them — only aggregate confirmation that a booking occurred.

Third-party services

Images, fonts and styles still come from this domain. After a page has finished loading, we load Google Analytics (measurement ID G-YG0DCNJ2CR) so we can see aggregate traffic: pages viewed, approximate region, device type and the site that referred you. Google’s privacy policy covers how they handle that data. We do not use Google Ads, remarketing lists or DoubleClick on this site.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection law such as the UK GDPR or EU GDPR, including the right to ask what data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to complain to a supervisory authority.

Since this site holds no personal data beyond emails you have chosen to send us, in most cases the answer to a request will be "nothing". If you have emailed us and would like that correspondence deleted, ask and we will delete it.

Children

This site is a general-audience travel guide and is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with an updated review date at the foot of the page.
